since this is apparently an argument heres my Hot Take on this debate.
disclaimer but i like both leon and zero! i think theyre good characters in their own right.
while leon is written more respectfully than zero, most of his character is still shrouded in his sexuality and in a “feminine gay” stereotype. any comment you see about his character “not being about his sexuality” is, honestly, false. leon is written more respectfully but hes still very much his sexuality and not an actual character. which isnt bad but usually, gay characters tend to have no writing to them past “theyre uh gay”.
zero has the better character arc and what not but hes not exactly the picture perfect point of representation, which i can get why ppl dont like that. the negatives of zero’s character has been talked to death but basically hes mean and written in that “gay people are kinda weird” vibe.
both have their good and bad points. honestly every single person in this argument has been incredibly childish. this is coming from a veteran self proclaimed elitist fan.
