so, i’m almost done with birthright. i’ll be glad when its finished bc god i really do not like this route for many reasons.
the part in chapter 22 really got to me; the whole “oh i totally had no idea nohr was in desperate need for food!!” bit from ryouma was so… pointless. the fact that he only now found out about nohr’s situation makes no sense; he was with the rebels, so he should have gotten info about nohr’s situation, right? and he knew about the garou, and not to mention he heard about the waterfall from /nohrian people/.
the whole scene existed just to make ryouma look good and for the game to say “wow golly gee isnt he a grand guy!!” this route is so tiring with how its bias towards hoshido is. idk maybe i’m just bias myself but i really enjoyed conquest more. the idea of changing the system from the inside is a lot more interesting.
granted, conquest had a lot of stupid moments itself ( the crystal ball, kamui constantly crying over people they only knew for five minutes - and not even a good portion of their childhood, the entire fucking throne shit, etc ) but it was at least more interesting than birthright. i guess i just feel more with the nohr royals.
anyway the point of fates as a whole is supposed to be one family is not better than the other, but the game royally fucks that over with hoshido being more kind and caring than those evil nohrians. i get why; hoshido represents japan and this is a game from japan, but it’s not good when your own narrative just destroys the point of the game.
